Although myappearance is shabby, I will taste this wine you speak of.
Follow me Fortunato. The wine isn't much farther. You mustn't be nervous.

I hope the wine kept you warm, go on in, the Amontillado is waiting.
The characters approach each other. Montresor'sintentions are not what they seem to be. He knewFortunato's greatest weakness, wine. Montresor had been done wrong by Fortunato. We do not knowexactly why. Montresor is going to get him drunk. He is going to pay for what he has done.
Arriving at the Vault
I will head into your grand vault Montresor.
Montresor is in pursuit of his plan and he is not ready to give up. Montresor continues to persuade Fortunato and he mentions the vaults. The most exquisite wine lays in the vault and Fortunato falls for the plan. He was in disbelief that this amazing wine could soon be in his hands and Montresor was nothing but pleased.
The pair continue walking through the dark stairway, danger was upon Fortunato. The space was not only eerie, but also freezing and cold. Their eyes began to settle and there was a fearful uncertainty in his gaze.
The Final Drink
Fortunato? Come back please! Fortunato??
Before they can arrive at the vault, Montresor gives Fortunato a drink, and he takes the bottle of wine. Fortunato drinks the wine, therefore he ends upgetting drunk, and the "tour" continues. Moments later, they are both at the door of the vault, Fortunato is very drunk.
Montresor's plan has worked. Fortunato is tied upwith chain and Montresor closes the lock. A terrified Fortunato is praying its a joke, Montresor knows that it is far from that. He builds the wall of bone and proceeds to walk away without remorse.
