Communicating test score results of a student who is performing below the expected proficiency levelCommunicating test score results of a student who is performing below the expected proficiency level.
Hello Ms. Chien, I'm concerned about Jack's performance at school. I just saw his math quiz the other day, he didn't do so well.
The math quiz is an assessment to see if he has mastered the lesson content so do not panic too much. I know Jack is a motivated student.
Hi Mrs. Smith, please don't panic. Let's go over Jack's assessment portfolio and see what areas he needs help and discuss what we can do to help him improve.
What can we do to help him?
I'm going over Jack's assessment and he does seem to be struggling with math especially 2 digit multiplication. He isn't performing up to his standard. Jack did score lower than usual.
I will schedule a 10-minute group learning with Jack during recess every day to go over math with him. This will allow me to see what kind of math problems he is struggling and I can re-teach or go over the content with him again. He will be getting extra math questions.
He will be working with 3 other his classmates during that time and maybe they can help each other.
What can I do to help Jack at home?
I think praise and encouragement can help him a lot right now. You can also ask if he needs any help with math at home. I will be giving him guided instructions along with the questions. You can go over it with him and see if he understands.
I really hope Jack will perform better and improve his math.
Don't worry, Mrs. Smith. I will send you a schedule of assessment for the upcoming math tests and quizzes. With the right support and practices, I'm sure Jack will improve his test scores.
Thank you so much for your help!
