Storyboard Text

  •     A few students came to school one day with a black band of cloth around their arm. These students were trying to protest against the war in Vietnam.
  •      All these students were suspended because they refused to take off the arm bands.
  •      Some very angry and frustrated parents decided to sue the school district. This was how the Tinker v. Den Moinse Independent School District case began.
  •     The Supreme Court sided with the students and they won the case.
  •     The Supreme Court did side with the the students but said that expressing yourself on school property must me appropriate and respectful to all.
  •     Expressing yourself should never and is not allowed to be a distraction to others while in the school learning environment.
