  • Two children, Digory and Polly, meet in London while playing outside. They live in a row of terraced houses but never knew each other. Digory starts talking about his strange uncle and his study that is located in the attic of his house. They then decide to go explore the attic beyond Digory's house.
  • We should explore the attic beyond my house!
  • I'm game if you are!
  • They end up not walking far enough and end up in Digory's uncle Andrew's study. They do not realize that he is in there at first. Uncle Andrew asks them to stay and eventually he convinces them to.
