Langston Hughes was born in Jolpin, Missouri on Feb. 1st 1902 and he was a Playwrite, poet, and novelist in his life.

He Lived with his grandma because his mother went to Kansas to look for a job, and his dad moved to Mexico for work. As a child he had a rough life considering that his grandmother was poor and could not provide much for him. When he was little his grandma would tell him stories about black heroes just like him. but after his grandma died he moved in with his mother
As a child Langston went to the local Kansas public schools, and there found his love of poetry, and was voted class poet! during collage time he wanted to go to a collage but his mother could not afford it, but later he got a scholarship to go to Lincoln University, and went there for collage!
Langston continued his life leaving the Harlem renaissance and becoming a poet , making many different poems such as the negro speaks of the rivers and created a character called Jesse B. simple that got very famous.
Langston Hughes actually had many jobs in his career, from a truck driver on a farm to a night club worker, soon he began to find other interests in his life such as being a novelist poet and playwright.
Langston Hughes died on may 22, 1967 due to cancer, and his home is now a landmark.
