#### Storyboard Text

• Patty how many heels and shoes did we sell yesterday? and how much were they?
• The number of heels sold was 20 less than the number of  shoe. Heels were sold for \$25.00 a pair and shoes were sold for \$18.00 a pair
• Also much money did we collect in total?
• We earned \$1336
• So you don't know how much of each we sold?
• So a system of equations  problem using substitution?
• Not exactly, I don't now how much we sold but, I know 2 equations that help us find out.
• Heels is H and Shoes is S 25h+18s=1336 h=2s-20
• Yes!
• So do we just solve the problems to find out how many heels and shoes we sold?
• Yes! So now all we are going to do is solve the equations. Since we already have a equation solved for h we are going to plug that in to the other equation that isn't already solved for h or s.
• So would it be like this? 25(2s-20)+18=1336 50s-500+18s=1336 68s-500=1336 +500 to both sides 68s=1836 68s/68= 1836/68 s=27
• Yes, you just found out how much shoes we sold. But we aren't done we still need to find out how many heels we sold.We just need to plug in s in one of the equations. It doesn't mater which one. I'm juts going to plug it in for the equation already sold for h.
• h=2s-20 h=2(27)-20 h=54-20 h=34
• So we sold 27 pairs of shoes and 34 pair of heels. In total we sold a total of 61 pairs?
• Yes!
