Storyboard Text

  • Objective Summary
  • Theme Emergence
  • Theme Development
  • Macbeth and Banquo are given prophecies where Macbeth becomes Thane of Cawdor and later on King, Banquo will have kid(s) and grandchildren who become the heirs to the throne. Then Macbeth and his wife kill the king and blame it on the guards, which makes him go crazy later on.
  • Theme Development
  • The first part of Macbeth's prophecy comes true, he later on tells his wife about it. "(1.4.48-53) The Prince of Cumberland! That is on a step on which I must fall down or else o'erleap, for in my way lies. Stars, hide you fires; let not light see my black and deep desires. The eye wink at the hand, yet let that be which the eye fears, when it is done, to see."
  • Tone
  • Macbeth and his wife begin to plot how to kill the king and frame his guards when they come over to their house. "( That memory, the wader of the brain, shall be a fume, and the receipt of a limbeck only.""( When we have marked with blood those sleepy two of his won chamber and used their very daggers, that they have done't?"
  • Figurative Language
  • Macbeth kills the king and guards, the next heirs run off afraid they will also die and Macbeth is the next king. "(2.2.16) I have done the deed...""(2.2.52-55) Give me the daggers. The sleeping and the dead are but as pictures. 'Tis the eye of childhood that fears a painted devil. If he do bleed, I'll gild the faces of the grooms withal, for it must seem their guilt."
  • "(1.3.70-73) Stay, you imperfect speakers. Tell me more. By Sinel's death I know I am Thane of Glamis. But how of Cawdor? The Thane of Cawdor lives a prosperous gentleman,..." The kind of tone that i would think is being used is a curiosity tone, because what the witches tells Macbeth doesn't make sense to him. What he knows is that the former Thane of Cawdor is alive and he's wondering how he would be the Thane of Cawdor.
  • "Sleep that knits up the raveled sleave of care, the death of each day's life, sore labor's bah, balm of hurt minds, great nature's second course, chief nourisher in life's feast." This would be a simile because they are comparing those relaxations or pleasure to how food makes you feel when you haven't eaten in a while and then start eating your favorite food.
