Frederick Douglass was born on a plantation around the 1800’s into slavery in Baltimore, Maryland. His birthday is not fully known because Frederick Douglass never known what his birthday was, when or even how old he was either. Frederick got taken from his mother as a baby because she was always working at her plantation. When he was older he went to go live with his slave owner Mr. Covey who made him do hard labor.
It was always Frederick, just alone, doing what he needed like the good person he was. Lots of Fredericks’ slave owners whipped him a lot and he always got in little fights because he wanted to protect himself also sometimes because he was mad or upset. Most of the time Covey was awful poisonous like a snake and being awful to his slaves for their enjoyment.
Frederick Douglass had never known how to read like all the white boys. When he was younger he finally learned to read by as many people as he could. The slave owner was always awful and he hit any beat anyone he wanted, he was like a snake. He was the second hand man and never cared about any of the slaves.
Frederick Douglass met a older man, Sandy Jenkins who was a fellow slave which had given Frederick a “magical root”, as Sandy said. After that Sandy gave Frederick the root as a pass on and once Frederick was done with it to also pass it on to someone in need of a little help. While Frederick had it, he never got abused only verbally. When Frederick had the root he finally had a reason to get hit because he started a fight.
Frederick wasn’t having Covey being a jerk so he finally got mad enough so he went to go hit Covey and they got in a massive fight. Frederick and Covey were hitting and punching as least Frederick was because Covey wasn’t a fair fighter. Mr. Covey always went to grab something to hit Frederick with, and while Frederick was being tossed and kicked around as he just kept getting better. And after 2 hours of fighting between the two of them the awesome Frederick Douglass won the war you could call it between the them.
After the fight Frederick had a resolution and he finally felt free after all of the years he was in slavery. Covey had always made Frederick terrible. Now that Frederick had been in power and won against him he felt like the king of the world. Frederick might have still been a slave but he didn’t feel like he was a slave at the moment. After the fight with Covey Frederick had a couple fights after that and he eventually escaped out of slavery and went to go live his life.
