Columbus was a Hero! A large portion of the native deaths were caused by disease, not by brutality. We should celebrate Columbus day to celebrate Italian-Americans, the spirit of exploration, and the spread of western civilization to the Americas!
Stop we have something we can agree on about this issue!
Columbus Committed genocide! Christopher Columbus was just plainly not a good man, or sailor. He was terrible to his crew and to the native people of America. His greed and lust for treasure, like all explorers, drove him. American textbooks always make it seem like he was an important man, first to discovery America, first to prove the world isn't flat. For one, by 1492, if you still believed the world was flat, you were considered an idiot. People knew well before the world wasn't flat. The Vikings had already reached America long before Columbus!
