"A woman wants the self-same sovereignty Over her husband as over her lover..." (Chaucer).
There was a knight that committed a violent, lustful act that upset the kingdom.
King Arthur sent for his wife to cut off his head, but she gave him a second chance. He must find out what women want the most.
After searching all over thw village with no good answers. He finds a old women who tells him the true answer, as long as she has his oath
Back at the palace the knight tells what women truly want and the queen accepts his answer. The old lady asks for the knight to marry her because it is what the knight owes her.
Clearly the knight was uncomfortable that she was so old, so she gave him two options: he could either have her be ugly and true, or beautiful, but unfaithful. The knight thought it would be best of she chose for herself because it is about her, after all.
She chose to be both true and beautiful and the old hag turned into a beautiful lady.
