  • They had to abide by Mexico's Laws
  • -Must convert to Roman Catholicism -Adopt Spanish Language -Outlaw Slavery
  • Americans Don't Want to listen
  • Once Mexico gained independence from Spain, they decided to bring American Families to eventually boost the Mexican economy.
  • Revolt In Texas
  • As the American families settled in, they had to abide to the Mexican government. They told the Americans to convert to Roman Catholicism, adopt the Spanish language and no slavery.
  • Sam Houston & The Revolution
  • This is our land!
  • Since they did not want to abide by Mexico's laws, Mexico decided to close the Texas border, they started paying tax and this made many Americans to want to leave Mexico.
  • Defeat At The Alamo
  • Remember The Alamo!
  • Many Americans did not like the laws that Mexico had and decided not to obey and many rebellions started.
  • Texians clash with Santa Anna's army so Sam Houston & Texian leaders declare Texas Independence in 1836 by signing the Texas Declaration of Independence.
  • Texians retreat to an old Mission in March 1836 and for 12 days, 150 people held off an army of 6,000. At the end 183 Texans were killed by Santa Anna's army and the battle cry "Remember the Alamo!" becomes famous.
