- When Ulrich went into the forest, he finally met Georg and they both had their rifles at the ready. They were ready to release their anger on one another but they realized that civilized men can't shoot each other in cold blood. They stared at each other for quite a while. After they realized they couldn't shoot each other, A large tree fell down, pinning Ulrich and Georg to the ground and injuring them.
- The large tree fell down on Georg and Ulrich and injured them both horrifically. Ulrich had blood all over his face and he was unable to move his legs. Georg couldn't see very well because his eyes were full of blood and have swelled up. Both their shirts have been torn. While they lay on the ground injured, they talked about their ancestors' land. Each one tries to convince the other that this land belongs to their family. And they bring up cases like who would have more use of it for hunting. But after a while of arguing, they agree that if they don't die under that tree branch tonight, they would have a proper duel to find out who will own the land forever.
- And when they finally reached that agreement, they settled down. Ulrich got his flask from inside his jacket and opened it for a quick sip. However, Georg was still a bit on edge because he wanted his men to come to find them so they don't die under the tree branch. Ulrich then starts singing his favorite song. After a while, Georg realizes it is his favorite song too and starts singing along. They sing together for a while, then they see a light coming their way. They try screaming for help but they find out that they have lost their voices from all the singing. (They sang a bit passionately towards the end). The light slowly passes through the trees near them but the person holding the light doesn't notice Ulrich and Georg.
- After the light passes, they both lose hope. They start talking to each other in low voices about their lives, what they appreciated during their lives, what they wished they have done, and what they wished they have changed about their lives. And while Georg was at the end of his "speech" about his life, they once again, saw a light, but this time it was a group of about 5 lights coming towards them. By this time their voices have partially returned so they tried to scream as loud as they could. The light kept getting closer and closer. And when the group reached them, Ulrich recognized the group of people, it was his men. He was ecstatic to see his men and couldn't wait for them to free him and Georg.
- But, to their surprise, The men came pointing their rifles and Ulrich and Georg. They then demanded Ulrich to sign the contract saying that the men now own his land or they would kill him and Georg. Ulrich did not have to think twice about signing the contract. His life was way more valuable than a piece of land. But it turned out to be no use, the men killed Ulrich and Georg anyways.
