Exposition: The story firstly introduces the main character, Dupin, who is roomates with the narrator.
Conflict: The murder of two women were found on the street Rue Morgue.
Rising Action: Dupin and the narrator investigate the house for extra clues. They find evidence that proves the homicide was not committed by a human.
Climax: Dupin pinpoints a ribbon only sailors can tie. He invites a sailor and interrogates him and receives a confession.
I have something to confess...
Falling Action: After interrogating the sailor, Dupin puts all the clues together to come to a final conclusion.
Resolution: Dupin concluded that the sailors ape committed the homicide
