Jonas had not been assigned. Jonas has been selected.
Jonas had just been skipped during the ceremony of 12, and he wasn't sure why, because the Chief Elder never makes mistakes. He was humiliated and thought that he had done something wrong, but he wasn't sure what it was.
I don't understand it yet. I don't know what it is. But sometimes I see something. And maybe it's beyond.
Jonas feel relieved that he didn't do anything wrong, but is still anxious. Also, Jonas feel relieved that he didn't do anything wrong, but is still anxious. Curiously, he proceeds to walk up the stage and find out what he has been select for.
What does she mean by failure?
The current Receiver of Memory knows that he will now be training Jonas. He is staring at Jonas as he accepts his assignment, while he is thinking about the last person that he trained, the one that he failed.
Jonas, Jonas...JONAS, JONAS!
Jonas takes a hard look into the crowd, while trying to process the information he just received. He saw a change within the crowd, the same change that he saw in the apple.
Jonas is leaving the stage feeling unsure of what he has been selected for. To add on Jonas also feels unsure about what the Chief Elder meant by referring to the last failure of the receiver of memory.
As Jonas leaves the stage the crowd starts to chant his name as a way of congratulating him. The chant starts off slow and soft, and eventually progresses to louder and faster.
