Which one of you was talking about a violin?
Are you aware that "I picked up the violin," and "It was surprisingly light," are two independent clauses.
Then, why didn't you use a comma when combining them with a FANBOYS word?
Whenever you want to combine 2 independent clauses, you can use a comma and a fanboys word. Since both of the clause can stand as a sentence alone, you NEED that comma.
I didn't know that!
