The battle of Baltimore was between British invaders and American defenders. It was fought on both the sea and land. American forces attacked port city of Baltimore and Maryland. They were able to kill the commander of the incoming British forces. Francis Scott Key witnessed this battle and wrote "The Star Spangled Banner" which is now the national anthem.

During the war of 1812, the British wanted to take action again. From past events they felt the need to retaliate against Americans. They entered Washington D.C. and burned the white house. This was to show they weren't backing down easily.
The Treaty of Ghent was a peace treaty. It was made to end the war of 1812 between the US and Great Britain. It was signed on December 24th, 1814. It also said that all conquered territory was to be returned, and it planned to settle the boundary of the US and Canada.
