Storyboard Text

  • Exposition
  • Rising Action
  • Climax
  • The setting is the wife's concern about the nursery and the “HappyLife home”. The characters are George and Lydia and their children Peter and Wendy. Bradbury makes the opening scene concerning to let the reader know there will be conflict with the nursery later on in the story. The technology in the house lets us know the the home is very nurturing and kind of takes on a parental roll.
  • Falling Action
  • The children become obsessed with the image of Africa. Their relationship to Africa is the hatred towards their parents for wanting to shut down the house. The conflict is the children's abuse of the technology. Since technology is more of a parent to the children they use technology to go against the parents.
  • Denouement
  • The threat to shut down the house and nursery is made. The conflict is that the parents want to shut the house down for a while but the children are opposed of that. Technology is used into scaring the parents because of the fact that the children are able to control the nursery with their imagination.
  • Takeaway About Technology
  • The children were threw a temper tantrum about the nursery and the house being shut off. They beg the father to turn the house back on. The children said they hated the dad and wished death upon him. After awhile of begging, the mother asks the dad to give them just one more time in the nursery before they go, the dad reluctantly agrees. The kids rejoice and rush into the nursery. The technology has a major influence on the children's behavior and the mother feels bad that they would have taken it away so abruptly.
  • The kids bait the parents into the nursery after the nursery had turned back on. They locked the door to the nursery leaving the parents inside, and told the nursery to not let them kill it. The parents then realize the lions are behind them and are eaten because the kids feel like the parents are taking the house away from them. David McClean walks in later to see the parents missing and the kids sitting in the middle of the nursery in Africa. The technology consumed the love and affection of the children from their parents and made the kids turn against their parents and cause their deaths.
  • Technology can be good and can give great benefits to humans, but in the wrong mindset or in the wrong hands, it could lead to horrible consequences.
