Rome is located on the southern part of the Italian Peninsula. Rome began in a tiny village along the Tiber River. This location provides the poeple that live there with plenty of fresh water because of the river.
Influence of Etruscan Sports
These two brother were abandoned at birth. There uncle Amulius did this so he could then take the thrown. A Shepard then found them and decided to take them in and care for them. One they were adults they over threw Amulius from being king and had taken the thrown. Then they both decided to establish a new city, the brothers were then fighting over who would name the city. Romulus then killed his brother Remus. Then because Romulus wanted to name the city Rome, that became the name of the new city.
Influence of Greek Architecture
Etruscans figured out that have an arch in a building is more supportive then having the building straight across. The helped use come up with an irrigation system to transport water from city-to-city. They also influenced use by coming up with a was to build a stadium.
Influence of Greek Art, Writing, and Religion
They introduced us new sports like, chariot racing. They were also the first to start sports were fighting to the death was now a thing they would commonly do. If you were part of any of the sports that the Etruscan played then it would most likely result in injury or death. Rome was now the creator of new sports.
The Greeks had brought to us many architectural ideas like columns. We see columns all the time whether we are going to the museum or in the front of the white house. They have created 3 different types of columns, Doric, ionic, and Corinthian. Doric is the simplest and most plain of all the columns. Ionic columns have scrolls on the top and Corinthian columns are the most complex having flower type things on the top
The Greeks helped us write our alphabet. In the first two letters of the Greek alphabet, Alpha and Beta, that has helped us come up with the word alphabet. That is one of the many words the Greeks have helped us create.
