Storyboard Text

  • The tax on molasses goes down, in hopes of getting the colonists to pay taxes.
  • That won't make me pay taxes!
  • King George has ordered the molasses tax to be lowered.  He hopes that the people will be more willing to pay taxes now.
  • The King wants still wants us to pay taxes across the ocean!
  • Is that possible?
  • In order to pay for the French-Indian War, the King imposes more taxes on the colonists
  • Outrageous!
  • The Sugar Act allows the British to search homes at their own will.
  • Can officers search homes now?
  • Open the door!  We've come to search your home!
  • Writs of assistance were used to search homes without having the officers go to legal means.
  • I have permission to search your home, due to the writs of assistance from Parliament.
  • ?!?!
  • Sorry, sir, but I'm going to have to confiscate these smuggled goods.
  • I didn't smuggle the molasses!  I paid for it!
  • The British were also allowed to seize suspected smuggled goods in an effort to stop smugglers
  • Officers can now search and seize our goods!
  • The colonists were opposed and believed that the Sugar Act violated their rights.
  • This is a violation of our rights!
