- One theory of how the Grand Canyon formed is that the Colorado river poured into a basin which formed a giant lake.
- A long long time ago...
- There was a mountain range the size of the Himalayan mountains. Where the Grand Canyon is now.
- Then 5.5 billion years ago...
- The Grand Canyon formed.
- But Wait...How did this canyon form?
- The lake then rose and spilled over a plateau. The water was so powerful that it carved the canyon.
- A lot of the Grand Canyon is still a mystery, but this is what we think happened.
- That is how the Grand Canyon was formed.
