"Take your hands off my things." Bruno is nine years old. Bruno is the main character in the story. Some of his signifigant actions are yelling at Maria because he was touching his things. He also likes to complian to his mom about moving and everything wrong about it. He doesn't like Gretel very much.
Father is secretive
"I'd prefer for all of us to stay together."
"something about the way he was watching made her feel suddenly nervous." Gretel is 12 years old, 3 years older than Bruno. She is the secondary main character in the story. She also does not like her brother very much. Gretel is also obsessed with her dolls even though she is 12. Gretel is immature and I think this because no. 1 she has a ton of dolls and no. 2 she won't go and see what is outside of the window without carrying her doll with her.
“Your father is a good man.” Maria is the maid of the house and she plays kind of a significant role in the story. She tells Bruno about how she came to be the maid at the house. So she tells Bruno very significant things about father and about what is going on. Maria is always nervous because she doesn’t want to get into trouble with father.
