Battle of Yorktown
This decisive American victory was a major turning point in the revolution. The defeat of Burgoyne encouraged the French to enter the war against the British, and French support was critical to the revolution's success.
In June of 1777, Washington's forces attacked the British at Monmouth, New Jersey. It was a success for the Americans and the last major clash in the North.
The Battle of Yorktown began on October 6th and lasted about two weeks. On October 19th , 1781, Cornwallis surrendered.
