  • Battle of Saratoga
  • Winter at Valley Forge
  • Battle of Yorktown
  • This decisive American victory was a major turning point in the revolution. The defeat of  Burgoyne encouraged the French to enter the war against the British, and French support was critical to the revolution's success.
  • In June of 1777, Washington's forces attacked the British at Monmouth, New Jersey. It was a success for the Americans and the last major clash in the North. 
  • The Battle of Yorktown began on October 6th and lasted about two weeks. On October 19th , 1781, Cornwallis surrendered.
