1777 Burgoyne was sent with 8,000 men to Albany to cut off incoming supplies. The troops had to cut down tress to build bridges through the swamps. The militia fought several battles with the British, once Burgoyne reaches Saratoga springs, the militia were their to meet him. without reinforcements and surrounded, Burgoyne surrendered.
1777-78 Washington's army was camped outside of Philadelphia. 2,500 men died of disease and exposure. When Britain abandoned Philadelphia for new York, Washington's army attacked them and won at Monmouth, New Jersey.
1781, Over 12,000 american and french soldiers converged on Yorktown. The British had 8,000 troops stationed in Yorktown. The battle begun on October 6, and lasted 2 weeks before the British surrendered on the 19th.
