Before us elks were accompanied by wolves in Yellowstone, we usually lived in open meadows that are grassy. However, there are some downsides. During the winter, we are at a life or death situation depending on how well we survive during that time.
Now that wolves have appeared in Yellowstone, our large herds have divided into smaller groups. We have moved to heavy timber-like places and we are much more alert about our surroundings.
The appearances of wolves in Yellowstone have benefited the populations of coyotes, eagles, and bears (especially since they are always hungry once out of hibernation).
