  • The majority of the population in China consisted of farmers and peasants. Even though the farmers had plows and some animals to do the work, such as dogs and oxen, they mainly had to work by hand.
  • Agriculture was very popular. Many of the Mings lived on farms.
  • After the decline of the Yuan Dynasty, the Ming Dynasty emerged. It was considered a high point in Chinese civilization.
  • There were a variety of reasons why the Ming declined. Some of these reasons include financial troubles and agricultural disasters.
  • Many emperors believed in the Mandate of Heaven. However, many members of the Ming court and some emperors believed in Confucianism, as well as Buddhism and Taoism.
  • The Mings were known for their porcelain. The designs and shapes that the Mings traced on their porcelain were usually used with the colors blue and white.
