Storyboard Text

  • The French Revolution  Sarah Grace Campbell
  • Once upon a time, in a land far far away (France) King Louis XVI and his wife, Marie Antoinette lived lavishly and happily.
  • The couple was so happy they began to spoil their military with the best equipment money could buy.
  • After the King and his Wife were done spending they realized that they spent all of Farnce's money and have put the country in great debt.
  • At least they still lived in a big fancy house...
  • Along with going into major economic crisis, France had also divided into the "Estate" system which was seperation based on social classes.
  • There were three estates.  The first two were made up of the wealthy citizens who never had to pay taxes, and the third estate was made up of everyone else in France, and they had to pay taxes on everything.
  • The third estate tried to speak to the king but was quickly shut down and thrown out of the meeting.
  • The third estate had some complaints about the governing body and requested they hold a Meeting of estates General.  This meeting would allow the third estate to express their concerncs with the king.
