- Therese's boss is mad at her for irritating customers and not knowing how to speak the foreign country's language. One of the most common discriminations against overseas workers Is not fully understanding the native language of a foreign country. Since Therese needs the money she tries to take in all the rants and complaints of her boss.
- After finally receiving her first salary Therese goes to the bank to send money to his brother and parents. Despite the occasional language barrier and the complaints of the people behind her for being slow, she smiles. Her mind is full of images of how happy she is with her first salary and the dimpled smiles of her family when they see the money Therese sent them that she earned on her own.
