Storyboard Text

  • Jamestown
  • What are we here for anyway? Build settlements? Kill the natives?
  • Uh-oh. I need to warn Father!
  • You don't know? We are here to mine for gold! And we will capture the natives if they have the gold.
  • Roanoke
  • Seems like they've gone to Croatoan Island...
  • Croatoan
  • Where are they!?
  • Plymouth
  • Look, my wife! We can practice our beliefs here!
  • I know! Isn't it amazing?
  • Mom, I am hungry!
  • They might need help growing food, but they came too late...
  • Life in Jamestown was not easy. The ones who came needed to look for gold, since that was the goal of the trip. The leader said to do anything to get gold, even capture Native Americans if they had the gold. When John Smith was leader, his motto was "work or starve". That meant that you had to help farm, or else you won't recieve food.
  • The people who came back to bring the people in the settlements found a big surprise. There was no one in sight and there was the word "Croatoan" carved in a tree. They thought that the people went to Croatoan Island, but they found no one. What happened to them is a mystery to this day...
