During the Battle of Gonzalez - On October 2nd, 1835, Texan soldiers crossed the river and planted a white flag in the middle of their camp. The flag was hastily drawn and had a picture of a cannon painted on with thick black letters around it that read, "Come And Take It!" Then that attacked the enemy.
