  • Persian Wars
  • Hi. Let me tell a little about the Persian Wars. King Darius of Persia wanted Greece, so he sent a messenger to tell the Greeks to surrender, but the Greeks did not allow him to. So, then the wars started and King Darius' son fought in the war. After the war the Greeks won.
  • The battle of Marathon was a battle between Greek hoplites and Persian archers. The Greeks won by forming a line with the hoplites and blocking the arrows.

  • The battle of Thermopylae was a battle between Greek soldiers and Persian soldiers and ships. The Persians won by  pushing the Greek soldiers back and defeating them.
  • The battle of Salamis was a battle between the Greek boats and the Persian boats. The Greeks won by using the boats and sinking the Persian boats.

  • The battle of Plataea was a battle between greek hoplites with other soldiers versus Persian archers on horses. The Greeks won by using the line of hoplites and blocking the arrows with thier shields to defeat the Persians.

  • After the Persian War the Greeks had survived its greatest danger. The victory guaranteed freedom from foreign rule. Also it started a rich period for Greece
