  • The Byzantium empire was located along the Mediterranean. It stretched from modern day Istanbul to parts of north africa.
  • What beautiful columns 
  • The Byzantium empire was similar to the roman empire in its construction and laws
  • Also, robbery isn't a crime here!
  • Constantinople is on a peninsula, and is surrounded by the Bosporus strait 
  • The Bosporus strait is a major center of trade, as it connects two major continents, Europe and Asia
  • A lot of Byzantium's wealth came from trade. 
  • Wheat, wine, olive oil and honey are all commenly traded items
  • I'm Constantine. I moved the capital to Constantinople, and was the first Byzantine Emperor
  • I'm Justinian. I built the Hagia Sophia, and gained back the lands lost to Germanic invasions
  • We don't like them that much. Justinian raised taxes and ruined the economy. 
  • He killed 30,000 rioters at the Nika riots. He also banned pagan religions.
