After Procter tries to get Mary to confess about who accused Elizabeth, he orders her to go to bed. But she refuses and says that she goes to bed whenever she feels like it.

When Hale finished questioning them about their attendance at church he decides to ask Elizabeth if she knows her commandments, "judging her Christianity". She answered, then he went on to ask Procter, which stated them but left one out. And left Hale in suspicion.
Hale: Do you know your comandments, Elizabeth?
Elizabeth: I surely do. There be no mark of blame upon my life, Mister Hale, I am a covenanted Christian woman.
Abigail convinces Proctor that he should tell Hale about the girls real reason for sickness. Proctor tells Hale that according to Abigail the girls were sick because they were frighten

Giles comes in the room and says that they took his wife and Rebecca Nurse. Because of Rebecca being so religious, you wouldve never thought for her to be captured. Hale states that Rebecca was charged with murder.

As Procter tells Hale how that night has gone to nonsense, Hale says that he has examined Tituba and Sarah. Procter states that anybody would confess to not be hanged.
I have myself examined Tituba, Sarah Good and numerous others that have confessed to dealing with the Devil.
