Storyboard Text

  • Today, Class, we are going to go over light:reflection and refraction
  • Does anyone know about reflection of light?
  • Light:Reflection and refraction
  • Like when light bounces off something, and causes us to see color? And all the other colors are absorbed
  • When all colors are reflected we see white and when all colors are absorded we see black.
  • Exactly. Everything we see, we see because our eyes filter out a certain group of electromagnetic waves called the visible spectrum.
  • I didn't know that.
  • That is why when there is no light at all, we can't see anything.
  • Does anyone know what it is called when light travels through a different mediums? Such as a thick gas or water?
  • EXACTLY!
  • This would explain what is going on when your body looks different under water while you are swimming, or a wavy figure in an oasis in the desert.
  • That must be refraction! Refraction is the reflection through 2 different densities
