Did you see a little girl walking by herself just before the lights went out?
It’s called Instructions for Egreston.
Assignment day is where students who are 12 are assigned jobs from the mayor. Lina had pipeworks and Doon had messenger, then they traded their jobs on assignment day.
The door in 351.
Lina was not paying attention to Poppy and lost her. Then there was a blackout. Lina couldn't see anything but she was asking everyone if they had seen her sister.
They are spreading vicious lies!
When Lina's grandma was looking for something important Lina found her sister, Poppy, chewing on a piece of paper which was in a very fancy box. The paper was torn up and the words were not clear, she could make out the the words 'Instructions for Egreston.'
We were underground, not just the pipeworks, everything!
Doon, who works in the pipeworks, found a secret room. He entered the room and saw the mayor and boxes stacked with supplies. The mayor is keeping all of the supplies to himself and not giving the people of Ember.
Lina and Doon were wanted because they were spreading “rumors.” Lina and Doon had told the mayor's guards about the mayor keeping all of the supplies to himself. The guards later on hung up posters about Lina and Doon because they were wanted.
Lina, Doon, and Poppy found a way out of Ember by using the instructions. They tried to fill out the missing words on the scraps of paper which led them out of Ember, which is underground, by using a boat, matches and candles.
