Storyboard Text

  • Edgar is trying to kill you just to get your wealth and land. Its's so awful.
  • I can't believe my son would betray me like this.
  • *Making noises  indicating Gloucester coming*
  • Help! He cut me because I wouldn't help with the murder!
  • I guess now I must disguise   myself as an insane beggar.
  • Now is time to betray my father to gain his title, wealth and land
  • In this scene Edmund is intentionally trying to ruin Edgar's life by making him seem like a murderer. He plots a big plan to make it seem like Edgar is wanting to kill Gloucester to make himself look like a better son.
  • I will tell Cornwall about his plans.
  • I feel bad about what happened to King Lear. I want to go find him.
  • Albany and Cornwall are having conflicts. There is a French army invading and part of it has already landed in England.
  • In this scene Edmund tells Edgar that he is in trouble with Gloucester and he tries to fight with Edgar but Edgar runs away. Edmund cuts himself to look like the victim. Edgar even says "Persuade me to murder your Lordship," (2.1.53) This shows that he was lying to Gloucester to try and sabotage Edgar.
  • Pluck out his eyes!
  • I wish I could see my Edgar again...
  • He's a traitor!
  • This scene shows how Edmund's lies and decisions led to Edgar living a poor life when he was a good son from the start and did nothing wrong. What Edmund did to Edgar was unjust.
  • Leave him alive for questioning.
  • "This courtesy forbid thee shall the Duke instantly know, and of that letter too. This seems a fair deserving, and must draw me that which my father loses-no less than all. The younger rises when the old doth fall." (3.4.21-25) This is a clear example about how Edmund throws his father under the bus and purposely betrays him. It is awful act for Edmund to do after his father trusted him.
  • This scene shows the result of Edmund betraying his father. They plucked out his eyes and Edmund was no where to be found to help his poor father.
  • Edgar gets his vengeance on Edmund and kills him. This scene reveals that sometimes justice is made from violent acts. Even though murdering is quite harsh, Edmund did do many harmful things to not only Edgar but their father too, because of that it was just for Edgar to kill Edmund.  Edmund was a bad man who was selfish and caused many problems for others. Edgar made things right for not only himself but his father too when he killed Edmund.
