Steven is going to the palace to deliver letters to the French king, Phillip ll. Steven is giving the king the letters he claimed were given to him by Jesus. Steven claimed that " Jesus appeared as a pilgrim while he was tending a sheep". The king did not believe him and told him to leave.
Nicholas and his followers headed to Rome and gained a meeting with Pope Innocent. The pope wasn't inspired by the children because their crusade was not authorized by the pope and the pope had no control over this crusade. The pope told Nicholas that " he admired them for their strong believes but did not agree with their crusade".
Eighteen years later after Steven's crusade a priest appeared claiming he was one of the children that was in the crusade with Steven. He said that during the journey they encountered bad weather two of the seven ships sank. The other five ships were taken over by pirates and sold into slavery. The priest stayed and answered their question and then disappeared.
