Storyboard Text

  • There is no way i will be able to do this homework by myself
  • Trigonometric Proofs
  • Homework Solve the following equation  ( sin t - cos t ) ( sin t - cos t )
  • Getting Help
  • Yeah that would be helpful
  • Hey did you understand that math homework
  • Yeah if you need help i can help you
  • Okay that makes a little more sense
  • Understanding Distribution
  • So what your going to have to do is distribute sin t and cos t to the next set of (sin t - cos t).
  • The teacher post homework about trigonometric proofs. The girl has no idea how to solve the problem. The equation is ( sin t - cos t ) ( sin t - cos t )
  • Simplifying  the Expression
  • Understanding trig proofs are tricky but if you have a friend that can help you understand it could be really helpful
  • Solving the Trigonometric Proofs
  • Since we know sin^2 t and cos^2 t is = to 1 we can apply that to our equation. so now our final answer will be ( 1 - 2 sin t cos t )
  • I do sir. The answer is ( 1 - 2 sin t cos t )
  • When solving trig proofs like these you need to distribute just like this guy did. By doing that will allow the expression to be in simplest form in order to continuing solving the problem correctly.
  • Confidently Answering the Equation
  • Homework Solve the following equation  ( sin t - cos t ) ( sin t - cos t )
  • If you distributed correctly you expression should look like this.
  • Now that you have distributed your expression should look like this now ( sin^2 t - 2 sin t + cos t + cos^2 t)
  • Now can we use the Pythagorean identities ?
  • Pythagorean Identities are useful when solving problems like these. You can just plug in the Pythagorean Identity where it applies like in this case. Sin^2 t + cos^2 t is equal to 1. That is why we were able to change it to 1. After this step there is nothing more to do. So this would be your final answer.
  • Yes we can
  • Once you know how to solve problems like these you will gain the confidence to give the correct answer to your teacher
  • Who knows the answer to the homework?
