- Idioms are phrases used in everyday language that doesn't make sense but we understand what it means.This is an example of an idiom because the girl was judging the other girl without knowing her and her friend told her not to judge a book it's cover.

- I'll be quick like a cat.
- Verbal Irony means saying the opposite of what it means.This is an example of verbal irony because the boy says "Nice weather we're having," which isn't because it's raining.

- An allusion is a reference to a famous person, place, or event.This is an example of allusion because the girl is telling his brother that his such a grinch, which means being grumpy, angry, etc, like the Grinch.
- Inference
- An analogy is comparing two things.This is an example of an analogy because the mom is comparing herself that she be quick like a cat.
- Motivation is the reason a character acts, feels, and thinks a certain way.This is an example of motivation because the girl who left the note on her friend's locker is motivated that her friend will stop liking her crush.
- An inference is an educated guess.This is an inference because the girl gave her friend some food to try, but with the face she made, it told her that she didn't like it.
