On September 9, 1777, the Patriots encountered the British army near the Hudson River. After many days of fighting, the Patriots claimed victory, which was the turning point of the Revolutionary War since the French began to provide aid to the colonists.
In 1783, the Treaty of Paris was signed. As a result, it formally ended the American Revolution. Great Britain acknowledged the independence of the 13 Colonies.
In 1787, at the Philadelphia Convention, the U.S. Constitution was signed by the delegates that attended. The Constitution of the United States established the national government and allowednatural rights for it's citizens.
