  • World War Two ended on the 8th May 1945 after Germany surrendered.
  • The Welfare state
  • The Labour Party won the election of 1945- which was just after WWII. They won because the Labour Party promised they would make lots of changes and voters wanted to make sure that the recovery of society would help as many as possible.
  • The Welfare state
  • On 5th July 1948, Aneurin Bevan (appointed as the minister of health in 1945) created the NHS and the government took responsiblility of all medical services, providing free diagnosis and treatments for everybody. The system created is called the Welfare state.
