One day a boy named Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in Kentucky. Abe's (nickname) family was poor but Abe helped.
Abe had a older sister named Sarah. Abe's family had a farm to grow there food on. Abe and Sarah didn't get to go to school everyday. Abe borrowed books and studied by himself. Abe read a lot.
Sometimes Abe sat near the road watching people go by. He saw many slaves with there owners.
Ha! When we get back to the mansion you have to clean the basement!
That is not fair!
When Abe was 7 years old his family moved. Abe's dad decided to move to Indiana. The land was cheap there and people didn't own slaves. When Abe was 9 years old his mother died.
Bye Bye farm!
Abe's family started a new farm in Indiana. Abe was a really tall teenager. By the time Abe was 19 he was 16 ft 4 inches tall! He was a hard worker.
I like it!
Abe's neighbors paid him to work on there farm too. Abe chopped down trees, split logs, planted and plowed.
