Do you guys think we should be able to drive like the white men instead of lifting all the time?
Why do only the colored people lift and the white men drive?
Have either of you seen Bono? I've known that guy since prison.
No, I haven't seen him at all.
Yea, I seen him a couple minutes ago. He was heading back to the storage room.
Don't you think we should have the same opportunity as them white men? Cause I think we should that's why I'm going to ask Mr.Rand about it. This is just like when they wouldn't let me play in the major leagues, because I'm black.
Hey Bono, I wanted to talk to you.
Sure Troy, what's up?
Yeah, Troy. I know that we can do the simplest duty as driving a truck. But this is how the white men view us. Nothing good for, besides doing the heavy work. But before he ask Mr. Rand you should ask some of the other workers about this situation.
Troy thinking to himself.
Do you guys think we should have the same opportunities as white men? All I want them to do is change the job description. Give everybody a chance to drive a truck.
Yea, I think we should be able to drive a least sometimes, but this is how things run Troy.
Troy, he's right. We can't do a thing about it, this how we gotta work. But I do think we should be able to drive, as Lester said.
Troy wants to share his opinion with Bono. He goes inside and sets off to find him. He asks two other works if they had seen him (William and Henry).
Hey, Mr. Rand! Why? Why you got the white mens driving and the colored lifting? What's the matter, don't I count? You think only white fellows got sense enough to drive a truck. That ain't no paper job?
Take it to the Union! Hell, that won't fix anything. It's simply a request.
Troy, you got to understand that this is how you will work. I can't change the rules. If you have a complaint take it to the union!
Tory starts walking to the storage room. He finds Bono and talks to him about his opinion.
Let's go Bono. It's Friday night and I already got paid. Let's go home and have a drink and I'll tell you all about it.
So what did Mr. Rand say?
Troy finds two other workers. He talks to Lester and Fred about what they think about the situation.
Troy thanks them. He goes to find Mr. Rand. He goes in his bosses office and says everything he thinks about the job conditions and unfairness they (colored) face.
Troy, I don't want to have this discussion. Take it to the Union and get out of my office! Or I will fire you!
Troy leaves upset. Bono is waiting for him outside Mr. Rand's office. After Troy and Bono talk for a quick minute, they both start to head for home.
