Storyboard Text

  • We are going to work on multiplying a exponent
  • What are exponets
  • A exponent is a quantity representing the power to which a given number or expression is to be raised, usually expressed as a raised symbol beside the number or expression ( 3 in 23 = 2 × 2 × 2)
  • Today class,i'm going to show the class how to break down an exponent
  • ^     this is a base number
  •    3 8
  • < exponents another word is power
  • So what you do now is
  • Dividing Exponets
  • To divide exponents with the same base, subtract the exponents. You subtract the exponents when dividing numbers with the same base. ax / ay = a^x-y
  • When multiplying exponents with the same base keep the base and add the powers.   2      4       6 4  x  4 =     4
  •
  •  Now we're going to do negative exponent
  •
  •
  • A negative exponent causes the number to be rewritten as the reciprocal of the original number and the exponent becomes positive.  -5 3=  1/3^5
  • -
  • Power of a power And Zero exponents.
  •
  •
  • To raise a power to a power multiply the exponents. (4 x 3^2)^5= 4^5 3^10 Any number raised to the zero power is equal to 1. x^0=1
