The Old Man and the Sea Salem Humanities Nov. 2, 2018
The old man had always liked the boy and through out the story he keeps saying that he would like the boy to be with him. The boy always wanted to go with the old man but his parents said no. There were many instances where the old man almost gave up, but kept going for the boy.
This is the old mans brother, at least, that is what he thinks. At one point, he said the three most important things in the world are is hands and his fish. This means any fish that he has on his line. And even though he was struggleing with the fish, he held on

Even after seeing the fish for the first time, he still plays along and is dragged out to sea and has to take a whole day to sail back to the town. And because of the bleeding fish, sharks attack.
