  • This Story is about a time where Homer Plessy fought against John Ferguson in Civil Right and Slavery. The U.S. Supreme Court held a constitution of racial segregation under the "Separate but Equal" for blacks and whites in law. It allows States to act on laws segregating public facilities. This had started in 1890 when African American Homer Plessy refused to sit in a railroad car for black people. Plessy agreed with group citizens who wanted to challenge unjust laws. Plessy violated the 1890 Louisiana Separate Car law. Separate Car law is a law that says White and Black Citizens had to ride in separate railroad cars. In 1896 The Supreme Court ruled against Homer Plessy upholding the constitutionality of Louisiana's "Separate but Equal" law which had allowed for racial segregation in public facilities.
