Type ll diabetes is one of the leading causes of death in America. It happens when our blood sugar levels rise and our body can't produce enough insulin to keep up. 27 Million peoiple in the U.S have diabetes.
Type ll diabetes requires constant attention and can trigger feelings of stress and anxiety. Diabetes can also cause depression and it may be hard for people to open up about it.
Uncontrollable risk factors include heredity, race (blacks, Hispanics, American Indians, and Asian Americans have a higher chance of getting it), and age.
Type ll diabetes affects children teens, and adults, and can be passed down genetically. Some symptoms include: increased thirst, frequent urination, increased hunger, weight loss, fatigue, blurred vision, slow healing sores, and darkened skin.
Controllable risk factors include weight, lifestyle, smoking, cholesterol, blood pressure, and smoking
The actions you can take to reduce your risk are, watch your weight, eat healthy, and stay active.
