A series of laws and acts are passed by government in support of parliament. These included: ship money abolished (1641); the court of star chamber was abolished and parliament passed the Triennial act (1641) which meant they had to meet at least every 3 years.
Parliament was reluctant to give King Charles the money he wanted for battle (around 1629).
In 1641 Ireland rebelled due to the disrespect directed to their protestant residents. The rebels attacked many Irish towns, which fell to the rebels.
The grand Remonstrance was presented to King Charles on the 1st of December 1641 and consisted of a list of problems parliament had with the King since the beginning of his reign.
On the 22nd of August 1642 Charles goes to Nottingham to go fight parliament in an attempt to settle this long fight.
In 1642 Charles joined the parliament in Nottingham and this commenced the first English civil war!
