  • Produce similar responses towards humans and non-human objects Happier in the presence of humans than when alone Generally do not prefer specific people and will smile at anyone
  • Stage 4 - Multiple Attachments
  • Approx 1 year onwards
  • Preference to people rather than inanimate objects  Learn to discriminate familiar and unfamiliar people They are relatively comforted by anyone and do not show a strong preference for specific people yet Generally do not show fear of strangers or separation anxiety Babies become more sociable and can tell people apart, generally showing a preference for familiar individuals, smiling more at them.
