"I can't believe how much power the pope has and how he's the head of the church. So many people belong to this church." the youthful man said to his eastern Europe pal.
"I disagree, I believe the bishops control religious matters and do in my town with very little guidance from you so-called powerful pope." the European man told his friend.
"Well then my good friend, I agree to disagree" the man laughed. "I shall see you in the morning," the man's friend told him. "Good night my friend" the man stated
(the next day) "Did you hear? Pope Gregory VII disapproved the bishop chosen by Emperor Henery IV himself. NOw Henery is enraged and has convinced Germany's bishops that they should remove Gregory as Pope." the man said in anger
"Indeed my friend. I also heard that the Gregory then called on the empire's nobles to overthrow Henery. Henery then went to Italy to ask the pope for forgiveness, three days later Gregory forgave him." the man's friend said.
"It seems that the pope is more powerful than the emperor himself, what do you have to say about that." the man teased. " Very funny," the European man said.
