The soil is good and fertile, the sky nice and warm, we are sure to be successful here!
A few years later...
After founding this place, my friend Phillip and I are now wealthy plantation owners. The richest of the rich down here!
I hate cotton...
We have many slaves, whom make us even richer! With cash crops like cotton and tobacco, we have no need to industrialize!
Outside of work, James and I are very religious. We go to church often. It is a big part of life down here. We eat many savory foods like beef and potatoes.
Even slaves are religious, they sing holy songs and hymns throughout their days, to represent the messages of Jesus Christ, to share the pains of slave life. Although, they do not go to church.
In the North women have many abilities; down here we are uneducated. That is not to say we are unimportant. We are very desirable to men, and marry multiple times.
This is my wife Maggie, in our society, women are greater than slaves, but lesser than plantation owners.
These are our children, Preston, Elliot, and Eleanor. Like many other things, it is the slaves duty to take care of the children.
Also, due to lowered taxes, there are far less schools. Yippee!!
Tensions with the North rose, they did not support slavery, and want to get rid of it. Slavery supports our lives! Without it, we will crumble. We wage political and literal war with North, all for the slaves.
As you can see, our economy is the core of our lives. We must make money to support our families. For a long time, we were successful.
